The Oldest LEGOManiac in Ames, Iowa.

Years ago, John acquired an affinity for building elaborate structures out of LEGOs.  It started as a stress reliever from the pressures of being a college professor.  As he approached retirement, the stress must have been horrific because he under took a major project in constructing a scale model of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church located in Ames.  The final project entailed 27,681 of the bricks.

There was an article about his hobby and one of his creations in the Ames Tribune on Saturday, December 1st, 2001.
